Welcome back to the Fab Friday challenge over at the Fab Friday Challenge Blog!
This week we have a sketch challenge:
I decided to REBEL against that lace doily. I have done the lace doily and the lace doily is nice but I have several circular stencils, and I decided to do a grunge look instead, the exact opposite of the doily! Lookie:
GOJUS! (YILM!) I wanted a postcard look to the main element, which is why I chose Tim Holtz's Cityscapes. I added a greeting from Tim Holtz's Crazy Talk below the focal image.
I painted the focal image first with Peerless watercolors. Since the colors ended up looking like the colors of the French flag, I used the Paris image from Cityscapes.
The stencil is Concentric Circle Grid from My Favorite Things. I used Hickory Smoke Distress ink with a stencil brush to make the pattern on the Simon Says Stamp Smoke Gray cardstock. To grunge it up even more I added some stamping using Distressed Patterns from My Favorite Things.
For the linear elements behind the focal image I used Tim Holtz tissue tape from the Symphony and Laboratorie packs. I love how it almost blends into the cardstock so that it looks almost like I stamped it.
These two metal embellishments are from Prima. I added a little Baker's Twine to add more texture.
It's Grungealicious, baby!
Below is my list of products that I used (that are still available), and I have used affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Ribbon Resource, and Blick Art Supplies. Buying through these links costs you nothing and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you. Stampin' Up! product links lead to their webstore, so please be sure to indicate your preference in demonstrator if it doesn't come up automatically!
