Okay, I finally got off the blue streak (hahahah!) that I had going for a while on every card (though I still have a lot of cards in the hopper that I can post, and yes, some of them are blue!)
This card was born out of the wish for something vintage looking, which you have to admit we are not blessed with much in the way of vintage-looking stamps in the Holiday Catalog. In fact...there isn't really anything that is head-on vintage, and I've been dying to use the Postcard background to make a Christmas card. Suddenly a lightbulb went off,and I got crackin'.
If you haven't noticed, the new In Color, Mossy Meadow, is a great vintage green and paired with Cherry Cobbler, Lost Lagoon, Very Vanlla, and Crumb Cake, you have a great vintage Christmas color palate. Hold on to your socks if you don't want them to go up and down! Lookie:
GOJUS!!! (YILM!) This turned out pretty much exactly the way I had it in my head! More views:
I love the touch of Champagne Glimmer paper. I colored the rhinestone with my Cherry Cobbler Blendability marker. The largest star is stamped in Versamark, heat embossed with clear embossing powder, then over-stamped with the smaller stars and sponged over with Crumb Cake ink. The smaller star was also done with embossing resist.
I made my postage stamp with the snowflake from A Round Array, again, embossing resist.
I was wanting some ribbon on the card (which is hard with this background because it's hard to find a place that you want to cover up), and I decided to do this old trick with the Modern Label punch. And it gives me my triangle with the blue center to the card and the blue postage stamp.
And I had to do something good on the inside to match.
In further news, my cool arty second daughter (I actually have TWO arty daughters, isn't that amazing?) did a bit of a doodle on some grid paper of me and so, using my Undefined kit, I made it into a stamp!
And so I stamped it, scanned it, and turned it into the new signature for my blog:
Way cooler than what I had before! Thanks Emily!
