Springing into Spring with the Freaks!

It's that time again, time to freak out with the freaks on our monthly blog tour! If you've just arrived from LeeAnn Greff's blog, you are in the right spot!

This month's theme is Spring Into Spring, projects/card with a spring/Easter theme. Like most of the country, we have been experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures, so this was not at all hard for me.

However, (and you knew that was coming) for some reason I haven't ordered anything new for Easter! So I had to make do with what I had! Lookie:

Ingredients: Stamps - Teeny Tiny Wishes; Paper - Spring Fever Simply Scrappin' Kit, Pear Pizzaz, Melon Mambo; Ink - Basic Gray; Other - Fancy Flower punch, Decorative Label punch, Modern Label punch, Wonderful Wisteria baker's twine, Wonderful Wisteria ruffled ribbon, gold brads, window sheet

GOJUS! (YILM!) This was a project showcased in Stampin' Success a couple months ago. I'm sure you've seen a few of them around. This one use a piece of 3" x 4-5/8" paper from the Spring Fever Simply Scrappin kit. Score ever 7/8" of an inch, then form a 5-sided tube. Cap the ends with cardstock punched with the Fancy Flower punch, each petal scored and folded to form the cap.

Stinkin' cute! (YILM!) I dusted off this set for the occasion! I have to say I have gotten a lot of use out of this set and it's companion accessories set, but I don't think I had used it for an Easter card yet. Now it can retire, LOL!

OMGojus! (YILM!) I had this idea in my head and it turned out almost exactly like I pictured it, which is always a bonus! I wanted to give the feeling of the birdsong I am hearing daily now as the birds welcome spring.

Just My Type

Here's my last class card from this past month...ooh, guess I better get busy and stamp some more!

STINKIN' CUTE!!! (YILM!) This brings memories back to me of my dad typing. He was wicked fast on a manual typewriter! He was the secretary for his bowling league and all those league documents had to be hand typed back then. Of course, this is the kind of typerwriter I learned on myself. There were a few electric typewriters in my junior high typing class, but we were expected to learn on the manual ones too. In college, I had a tiny manual Brother portable that I typed all my papers on...at least until I begged to be able to stay late in the Interlibrary Loan office where I worked at Western Michigan University so that I could use the IBM Selectric, which was a large improvement over what I had been using. We had heard the library director talk about his word processor, but we never even got a look at it!

It wasn't until I lived in Illinois that I learned word processing and not until we moved back to Michigan that we had a computer of our own...ah, yes, our beloved Macintosh 512Ke. Can you imagine? 512K of disk space!!! It was AMAZING! We bought it used for the paltry sum of $1000!!! ROFL!

My typing class in junior high was great fun. And it led to my present career:

Elementary Elegance

Yes, I'm posting again!

Don't faint! I'm actually scheduling these so I can do them all on the weekends when I have more time. What a concept!

GOJUS!!! (YILM!) I love the new Framelits! For the Very Vanilla layer, we cut the image out with one of the Labels collection Framelits, then turned it 90 degrees and cut it again to get a different shap that fit the stamp perfectly!

Seriously, Mary Poppins came out when I was in elementary school (oh, I *am* dating myself) and this was one of my favorite songs we sang in school! I didn't even see the movie all the way through until I had kids. It's one of the best movies ever!

Gee, now I need to get it on DVD...still have the video, but I can't watch that on my computer while I stamp! Ta!

The Theme this month is Love is in the Air - Cards and Projects for Your Valentine.

So without further prevarication:

GOJUS!!! It looks good enough to eat and it also SMELLS good enough to eat. I stamped with Calypso Coral and then again with Versamark over the top using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. Then I embossed with the new Vanilla Scented EP. YILM!!

One thing I'd like to know is, though:

Where is the CHOCOLATE scented embossing powder?!?!?!

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled program.

STINKIN' CUTE! (YILM!) This was made to hold some delicious sugar cookies made with our new cookie stamps, but I didn't have time to bake them before the tour, so you will just have to imagine them.

A Freaky Occasion

The theme this month is Occasions Mini and SAB Sneak Peek! It's a smaller tour than usual (can you believe that some people let their families and friends needs get in the way of doing the Freak tour?!?!!? I mean, REALLY!) Oh, well, we may be small, but we are mighty!

I have had some fun playing with my new goodies, though not as much as I would like. This weekend was spent with family, as my mother-in-law did indeed pass away on Sunday evening last week. We had a nice funeral service for her on Saturday, and I was surprised to discover that my MIL had wanted me to do her eulogy, so I was kind of busy writing that as well as getting all the details that I needed to get done here before we went over.

GOJUS!!! (YILM!) The new Framelits dies are SO easy to use. The Paper Doily die is very pretty, but make sure you put a shim with it to get all the openings to cut.

Ingredients: Stamps - Bordering on Romance, Petite Pairs; Paper - Twitterpated DSP, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzaz, Riding Hood Red, Blushing Bride; Ink - Versamark, Whisper White, Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red, Pear Pizzaz, Blushing Bride; Other - Medium Oval punch, Island Indigo ruffled ribbon, Twitterpated Designer Button, Island Indigo baker's twine, Adorning Accents Edgelits die, white EP, Aquapainter, dimensionals, sponge wedge.

GOJUS!!! (YILM!) I love the soft colors in the DSPs in this mini! And the Edgelits are also very easy to use and add such elegance to my card!

Finally, I wanted to use the Tea Shoppe set, so I thought of decorating a tea tin that is a gift for your favorite tea lover:

Ingredients: Stamps - Tea Shoppe; Paper - Attic Boutique DSP, Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Early Espresso; Ink - Soft Suede, Early Espresso; Other - Modern Label Punch, Adorning Accents Edgelit Die, Blushing Bride pleated satin ribbon, Early Espresso Bakers Twine, Blossom Punch, Doily punch, Large Pearl Basic Jewels, Soft Suede 1-1/4" striped grosgrain.

GOJUS! (YILM!) I punched 2 flowers with the Blossom Punch and curled their petals. I placed one flower with the petals curling up on top of the other with the petals curling down for a nice full look.
