It's time for a new Fab Friday challenge over at the Fab Friday Challenge Blog!
This week we have a color challenge:
I had just watched a fabulous video by Kristina Werner for a plaid watercolor card that she made, and it seemed to me that I should try this with reinkers to see if it would work and, to kill 2 birds with one stone, use it on this challenge. I only ruined two postcards before I got an acceptable result. I had forgotten that I was supposed to dry the stripes with my heat tool in between colors or anytime I crossed over a previous stripe to prevent them from bleeding all over the place. Once I did that, I was good to go. I forgot to do the masking pen first before doing the final plaid, so I cheated and added the little snowflakes afterwards by heat embossing them with white EP.
GOJUS!!! (YILM!) Yes, I have used (gasp!) a Stampin' Up! set, some of which I still have. Actually, you need to watch this space because there is going to be a big blowout Out of Business sale showing up here very soon. I need to get some of the schtuff I have out of here to make room for the stuff that's been coming in. And actually help pay for some of that stuff that's been coming in.
This shows you some of that new stuff. The circle die cut is from My Favorite Things...I fell in love with these dies, and stitching is so IN right now. I liked the little twist of there being a cross-stitch pattern around the edge. And those little Freckled Fawn wooden embellishments are just the perfect touch.
Here you can see how pretty the plaid turned out once I worked all the bugs out. My essential tremor was giving me fits on the day I did this, but it actually adds to the look, IMO. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
Below is my list of products that I used (that are still available), and I have used affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, and Blick Art Supplies. Buying through these links helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you. Stampin' Up! product links lead to their webstore, so please be sure to indicate your preference in demonstrator if it doesn't come up automatically!
You'll be able to see all of our creations and post one of your own by visiting the Fab Friday blog. You can also visit the other DT members' blogs and see what they've done with this challenge:
