I had time to play in another challenge from Splitcoaststampers last week. I fussed with this for days trying to get it just right, and I think I finally solved all the problems I created for myself by insisting on part of the layout being where I put it and not wanting to move them.
This was the color challenge called "Soft Saffron Fish" which was an amusing error on the part of the hostess that she decided to let stand. The colors are So Saffron, Soft Sky, and Summer Starfruit, which the hostess for some reason thought was "Summer Starfish"! I decided to make a play on this error and use a stamp that I had bought and hadn't used yet, Fishin' Around. Lookie:
Ingredients: Stamps - Fishin' Around, Banner Greetings, Positively Chevron, Gingham Wheel; Paper - Soft Sky, So Saffron, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White; Ink - Soft Sky, So Saffron, Basic Black; Other - Window Frames Framelits, Needlepoint Border embossing folders, Paper-Piercing Pack Essentials, Stampin' Markers, Dazzling Details, Signo White gel pen, Stampin' Trimmer with Small Scallop blade, dimensionals, Whisper White stitched grosgrain, Neutrals Candy Dots.
STINKIN' CUTE!!! (YILM!) I love these little fishies, and at first I thought this would be a baby card with these colors, but I couldn't tie the fish into a baby card with the stamp "Baby Cakes". It seemed to call for a cake somehow rather than fish. Since there are two fish, I switched to the Friends Forever stamp and that worked better. And originally, the greeting was stamped in Summer Starfruit, and it was just too much Summer Starfruit, so I switched it to So Saffron and that worked. Then I dropped it on an inked stamp and had to tear the pieces off the card base where it had gotten ink on it and remount it, so you can see that I have been through the mill with this card. But it was worth it, no?
Here's a close up:
You can buy these stamps and all the schtuff I used to make this card in my webstore!
