Ah the first fledgeling to leave the nest is the hardest! It will get easier but they never forget good old Mom!

Jan, great card for, "Bird" I like how it all came together!! Gorgeous!!!!

What a pretty card, Jan! I have to tell my eldest to check his mailbox (which, to me ruins the whole surprise thing!) if I send cards or if the grandparents send money.

Jan - You say "I'm not great at sending cards out, don't get me wrong, as the boxes of cards I have made that line the shelves down here attenst." Send all those boxes of cards to our troops! They don't have Hallmark stores in Iraq, Afghanistan, or any of the other places our guys get sent! And they LOVE getting beautiful hand made cards to send home to their loved ones.

Absolutely gorgeous card,Jan! Your daughter is going to love receiving it. Wishing her much success in this new phase of her life. I'm sure you're going to miss her until she comes home to visit and brings all her dirty laundry! ;-)

Hey Jan!
Fabulous and meaningful card! I can relate! Both my daughter and son are 1011 miles away from me at college. My youngest son is a freshman and my daughter's a junior. They are at the same school but I'm still dying bc they are so far away. You inspired me to make a card for my DD and let her know how much I love her. (DS doesn't quite 'adequately appreciate' handmade cards so he got one of my swaps... don't judge;0) Anyway... thanks for the great idea and inspiration!

Jan, I totally get the sending your first off to college thing. Ohmygoodness, it was SO HARD! We didn't see Katie for a month, and it was 1997 and we had the good sense to send her to school with a computer (which was unusual back then) because we figured we'd hear from her more often if the computer was in her dorm room than if she had to go down to the computer lab to email us.

My hubby still has a digital copy of every single email that our 3 girls sent to us during college. He's thought of printing them out and giving them a copy of their emails...

I hope things go WONDERFULLY for Laurel!!

Hugs,
Susan
