Every now and then I get stale, like bread that is left out with the wrapper open. I need to try something new to get me out of my stampin' rut. One of the best ways to do this is to head on over to Splitcoaststampers and try one of their many challenges. I was intrigued by the Technique Challenge for this week, Traced Doodling, a technique introduced by Mel McCarthy.
So I set out to try this technique, and I have to say, I RAWKED IT!!!! (YILM!) Lookie:
Ingredients: Stamps - My Friend; Paper - Blushing Bride, Perfect Plum, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette; Ink - Blushing Bride, Perfect Plum, Calypso Coral; Other - Word Window punch, Candy Dot brad bases, Basics Jewels Rhinestones, Perfect Plum marker, Signo white gel pen, Dazzling Details, blender pen, sponge wedge.
GOJUS!!! (YILM!) I stamped with Blushing Bride on Pink Pirouette and did my doodling with my Perfect Plum marker. The shading was put in with a blender pen painting with the ink from my ink pads, then some details added with Signo white gel pen.
I also blinged it up a bit, since that was in the tutorial. The suggestion was for using glitter pens, which I have, but I wanted to keep this all SU!, so instead I tried painting Dazzling Details over the parts of the images where I wanted some subtle shimmer.
This worked really well!
I love how this technique turned out and will be playing with it again I'm sure!
