I'm a Freakin' Big Shot

Slip 'n' Slide

C'mon baby! A whole lotta scrappin' goin' on! A good thing too, since I still have photos from the last 8 years I have not gotten to yet!

The good news is that I am getting faster at transcribing, so I actually have free time in the evening now! I've been scrappin' up a storm lately! This is a page I did for a video for Tink & Bell's Digital Scrapbooking Club:

GOJUS! (YILM!) This showcases in particular a couple of different techniques for distressing the edges of photos or cardstock as well as getting a smoother look with the Vintage Overlays. You too could learn some of these coolio techniques if you become a member!

One of the disadvantages of working so hard and bumping up my production is that now my wrists are acting up. I have some special computer gloves I use to prevent carpal tunnel, but they seem to have stretched out a bit and lost their effectiveness, so I had to order a new pair. And buy a brace for my left wrist. The last thing I need is to end up with a repetitive stress problem! These hands have got a lot more typing (not to mention stamping) to do! Ta!

 

Kissing

 

No, not that kind of kissing! Even though it was just Valentine's Day. And my sweetie is in Kalamazoo visiting his dad, so I didn't get no kiss from NOBODY. Sniff. No, nor chocolate neither! I am feeling neglected!

Actually, my chocolate consumption has dropped dramatically because I finally did something this past December that I thought I would NEVER do. I kicked my Diet Coke addiction. I have been drinking DC ever since college. Suddenly, it just didn't taste good anymore. I had a cold, I was chewing sugar free gum that didn't taste too good with Diet Coke, so when I ran out, I just didn't buy anymore.

Now, I can manage with just one bottle a week, usually when I am eating popcorn at home. And once I stopped drinking the 4+ cans per day I had been drinking, all of a sudden my craving for sweets went WAY down. Though chocolate still tastes just FINE, thank you! So if you were planning on sending some..

I almost forgot I had this card waiting in the project hopper! This is one of the cards from last year's convention presentation and features one of the techniques I was demonstrating at my booth, kissing! Lookie:

Ingredients: Stamps - Inspired by Nature, Perfect Punches, Netting; Paper - Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White; Ink - Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade; Other - Calypso Coral ruffled ribbon, Large Oval punch, Basics Jewels Pearls, sponge wedges,dimensionals, markers.

GOJUS!! (YILM!) This uses two different kissing techniques! In the first one, the Netting background stamp is inked up, then the clean and dry Inspired by Nature flower was "kissed" to the Netting stamp, picking up the pattern of the Netting stamp, then stamped on the Blushing Bride cardstock. The second one is called "kissing off". The Inspired by Nature flower stamp was inked with markers, and then the clean and dry Netting stamp was kissed to the flower stamp and pulled off ink, leaving a pattern behind on the flower stamp, which was then stamped on the Whisper White cardstock. I was having problems with this at my booth because my Netting stamp may have been clean, but getting it dry enough to really do a good job I could not. But people got the idea of what to do and that is what counts.

Just My Type

Here's my last class card from this past month...ooh, guess I better get busy and stamp some more!

Ingredients: Stamps - Just My Type; Paper - Just Add Cake, Whisper White, Pool Party, Early Espresso, So Saffron; Ink - Early Espresso, Pool Party; Other - Fashionable Hearts Embosslits die, So Saffron Taffeta ribbon, Mini Silver brads, Early Espresso marker, dimensionals.

STINKIN' CUTE!!! (YILM!) This brings memories back to me of my dad typing. He was wicked fast on a manual typewriter! He was the secretary for his bowling league and all those league documents had to be hand typed back then. Of course, this is the kind of typerwriter I learned on myself. There were a few electric typewriters in my junior high typing class, but we were expected to learn on the manual ones too. In college, I had a tiny manual Brother portable that I typed all my papers on...at least until I begged to be able to stay late in the Interlibrary Loan office where I worked at Western Michigan University so that I could use the IBM Selectric, which was a large improvement over what I had been using. We had heard the library director talk about his word processor, but we never even got a look at it!

It wasn't until I lived in Illinois that I learned word processing and not until we moved back to Michigan that we had a computer of our own...ah, yes, our beloved Macintosh 512Ke. Can you imagine? 512K of disk space!!! It was AMAZING! We bought it used for the paltry sum of $1000!!! ROFL!

My typing class in junior high was great fun. And it led to my present career:

Mom is Sneaky

I have to say I am having the best time with Tink & Bell's Digital Scrapbooking Club! This page is based on our second sketch. Our members have been enjoying creating with our Enhanced Sketches. Membership is on an ongoing basis, so don't think you missed out if you haven't joined yet, you still can!

Here is my awesome Emily. She doesn't let me take her picture, so I have to be sneaky. And I managed to snap this picture without her being able to do her usual thing. Which is this:

What is a mom to do? Other than to get sneaky?

Got lots of practice being sneaky putting money under pillows in my disguise as the Tooth Fairy. Or hiding Easter baskets in my disguise as the Easter bunny. Or...well, you get the picture. And so did I...once...one day she will regret not letting me take them, when she asks where all the pictures are of her at this age. Humph!

And now for more about being a mom, except this time it's about being a proud mom!

Elementary Elegance

Yes, I'm posting again!

Don't faint! I'm actually scheduling these so I can do them all on the weekends when I have more time. What a concept!

GOJUS!!! (YILM!) I love the new Framelits! For the Very Vanilla layer, we cut the image out with one of the Labels collection Framelits, then turned it 90 degrees and cut it again to get a different shap that fit the stamp perfectly!

Seriously, Mary Poppins came out when I was in elementary school (oh, I *am* dating myself) and this was one of my favorite songs we sang in school! I didn't even see the movie all the way through until I had kids. It's one of the best movies ever!

Gee, now I need to get it on DVD...still have the video, but I can't watch that on my computer while I stamp! Ta!
