Yes, I got my schtuff and have been stamping up a storm as I get ready for convention. It took a while to get all the stamps put together, but even before I started stamping with new stamps, I pulled out the new owl punch and decided to play with it a bit. Yes, I ordered this, even though after the 70's I thought I was so over owls that I never wanted to see another one. For those of you of a certain vintage, you'll remember macrame owls, ceramic owls, string art owls...owls were EVERYWHERE!
So, it was with mixed feelings that I ordered this punch. On the one hand, I am a punchaholic and had to have my fix! On the other hand...OWLS. You can see the dilemma, can't you?
I will say, though, that once I started playing with these owls, all conflict was settled. I am IN LOVE with this punch! It's so fun just to make the owls have their own little personalities...well, you'll see what I mean! Lookie:
Ingredients: Stamps - Calendar Alphabet & Numbers; Paper - Pear Pizazz, Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze, Soft Suede; Ink - Soft Suede; Other - Bitty Punch pack, 2-step Owl Punch, 2-Step Bird punch, Slit punch, 1 1/4" square punch, Peach Parfait 1/2" Stitched Poly ribbon, gold brad
Isn't this a HOOT?!?!? (YILM!) I got these 3 owls punched out and assembled and this particular scenario just fell right into my brain and it HAD to be done! You do see that, don't you? I added little eyebrows to two of the owls for emphasis of the roles played in this little drama. I foresee many twisted cards with owls coming in the next few months! Stay tuned!
Ah, well...back to the swap mines. Ta!

adorable!

Oh I remember the macrame owls. My 6th grade teacher taught us macrame-everyone got an owl and a plant hanger that year for Christmas! LOL

Hi Jan. I just love your blog so much. You make me laugh and you show such amazing projects. I love your owl card. I remember the owls. I'm only 35, but I can remember my mom having owls EVERYWHERE in the house. Heck, she still does. LOL. Jan, you need to get some of your poems published. I know some of your work has been, but that poem you wrote about the UPS truck was classic!!! Stampin Up would love that one. I hope you have a great weekend. Take care, Jenny L :)

My almost 8 year old daughter is giggling hysterically. She's a sucker for a good pun, and doubly so if it's a little, er, colorful. Bless your creativity and your great sense of humor, Jan.
