Welcome back to the International House of Contagion. Right now the Boy with the Wayward Finger seems to be down with the swine flu. He's not very sick, I will say...still finding the strength to play the Wii, which we had rented yesterday as a special treat for wonderful report cards from both Will and Emily. His teacher this year seems to have found a way to motivate him and was full of praise. And she is helping him navigate through some of the social misunderstandings that he gets into, not being as into the subtleties of language as others his age are. So I'm very thankful to have a good teacher for him this year!
Anyway, he started out with a fever, cough, and a headache, then started throwing up. He slept all night, threw up a few times, but the fever is gone this morning. I will say he has always been fairly sensible about resting when he feels sick, so I'm not worried about him and the pediatrician's office doesn't want to see him unless he gets much worse. But who knows who will be the next to receive a visit from the swine fairy.
Swine FLEW! Get it! Har har har...
I am back cutting for kits this morning, thank you for your orders! I hope to get them all cut and out the door by Saturday, Monday at the latest depending on whether *I* get sick or not and whether any of the other people in my house get a bad case of this. I am washing my hands left and right! I feel slightly weird this morning, but that's more likely a case of Too-Many-Riesens-itis than anything else...dang CVS for putting them on sale!!!
I hope to get to that video for the Faux Stained Glass this weekend, thank you for your patience! Ta!

I hope your boy gets better quickly! Funny how they never seem to get the aches in their "gamer" fingers. ;)

"Swine flew", heh heh heh, yeah, I got it. Take care of YOURSELF, too, or you won't be able to take care of the rest of your family (and customers!). Hope your son gets better soon, and you don't get it!

Both of my daughters had swine flu, and I have Multiple Sclerosis, which if I get a virus or bacterial infection, I will get much worse than normal people. Anyway, I used Lysol EVERYWHERE!! I never got it!! (So far!! Knocking on head since there is no wood around.) Here are my best tips.
(1) Yes wash hands. BUt give them their own towel and keep it in a separate location!
(2) Cough, sneeze, etc. into your shirt (pull the collar out and basically cough on your chest). This is better than doing it in your elbow, which sometimes doesn't catch ALL of the sneeze, etc. Kids' aim sometimes make the CHOO go under the arm, etc. Plus, the added benefit is the viral particles are caught UNDER the shirt, rather than on tip where it can be touched and contracted.
(3)LYSOL... the air, the surfaces, EVERYWHERE. Once it is dry, it is food safe. I even sprayed toothbrushes each night. Clorox spray is ok too, but Lysol is the best.
(4)Train them not to touch their face. If they have to touch/rub their eyes, nose, etc. make them use a kleenex, which then goes in the trash and then they wash or sanitize their hands.
(5)sanitizer- use it frequently, even if you/kids have not "used the restroom". Ex. After every 30 minute to hour show. Just to keep from spreading germs around the house.
No, I am not a germ freak. No I didn't run around the house with sanitizer and Lysol all day. I know it sounds like it, but I didn't. It was not much more than anybody else would do. I can't get sick, it is critical that I don't, but I am not a fanatic. I just wanted to pass along the tips and tricks that worked for me!! I haven't had a virus, cold, or anything in 4 years, yet I have a 9 and a 14 year old that have been sick repeatedly!
Good luck and I hope your son gets well really soon. Take care! We want more projects!! :)

Sorry that your little beastie feels crummy. Just did that with my 16 year old. Somehow It seems that I have a more difficult time taking care of him now that he's older. He was one grumpy punk. Take your time getting back to work. Your family is way more important than the clammering stamping hords.
I'll be thinkin of ya.

My daughter had the swine flu and, like Will, the fever didn't continue. DD then got pneumonia so ask Will if his breathing becomes wheezy, tight or difficult. Seven other kids ended up with pneumonia after a week of being sick with swine flu.
Use paper towels instead of regular hand or kitchen towels. That suggestion was from our son's nurse.
I hope everyone else is able to stay healthy in your home.
