I decided that it has been altogether too long since I used a Mojo Monday sketch, and having a pile of new paper and stamps to hand, it seemed only right and natural for me to combine all these elements and bring you something GOJUS!
Of course, there may be those who think it's UGLAY, but you know what? I spent 5 years in an accredited art program at a large university
learning to take criticism from both my professors and my fellow students. I don't spend any time getting peeved about people who may not care for what I do, even if they are rude and reckless enough to post it in the comments section of my blog.
Because I've heard plenty of criticism from better people, people who don't hide behind a keyboard but look you right in the eye when they say it, and I have learned to take it for what's it's worth: one person's opinion.
If I were a vindictive person, I would take all the information this person left behind and make their lives miserable. But I'm not. I am a Christian, when it's all said and done, and I forgive. Even though it's not as fun.
But, knowing that most of my readers LIKE if not LOVE what I do, I venture to offer my work yet again for your enjoyment or lack thereof. Because, my friends, it takes GUTS to put it out there where everyone and their brother can see it and comment on it. If you've got your own blog or you put your work on a website like SCS or Stampin' Addicts, you've got a whole lot more courage than folks who make dumb comments on blogs and run away.
And if you don't have a blog or put your work out for everyone to see, but you simply enjoy looking at what others do and make positive comments when you feel the spirit moving you and the rest of the time you follow Thumper's mom's advice of "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all", you also ROCK! Civilization is BUILT on people like you! Let's celebrate how dang AWESOME we are!
Ingredients: (all SU!) Stamps - Greenhouse Garden, Think Happy Thoughts; Paper - Kaleidoscope DSP, Green Galore, Only Orange, Pixie Pink, Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White; Ink - Summer Sun, Only Orange, Tempting Turquoise, Bermuda Bay, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Basic Black; Other - Bold Brights Brads, Pretties Kit, Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain, 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle punches, Vintage brads, Perfect Details Texturz plate, white gel pen, sponge wedges, dimensionals
GOJUS! (YILM!) When I first saw the list of colors that was supposed to match this new paper, I was a bit skeptical. The actual colors in the paper are a bit more muted, so I thought that maybe this card was not going to work. But once I put it all together, amazingly, it DID.
This is Mojo Monday sketch #94 and I greatly enjoyed creating this card using it. Now I'm going to go back to the stamp room and whip up some more stuff to awe and amaze my wonderful readers! Ta!

Perfect post m'dear!!
And another amazing card! I LOVE that flower set!!!

so happy and colorful, love it.

Wow! Those colors are great together. I can see your skepticism, though. I'm gonna have to get that stamp set.

Here, here!
Love this!

Jan, I also went to school and studied art and I don't think the last card was Ugly. I thought it was very unique and the flaw is nothing. But really if SU wants to be picky they really should have made that stamp better. I always have areas of that stamp that don't stamp unless I press all 180 pounds of myself on it. LOL. Shouldn't be that hard to stamp an image.
Maybe next year you'll win. Maybe it's about how many times you enter instead of talent.
Keep the great cards coming!

You just made my wish list grow a little longer again. Awesome card--now I want that set and dsp.

As soon as I saw this stamp set, I thought of you Jan - it reminds me so much of the Kitchen Sink stamps you seemed to favour for a while! :) Another beautiful card - thank you for sharing your art!

OHHH...that is the 3rd time today that stamp set has been thwarted in my face!!! I want that set so bad and the only reason I do not have it yet is that I have not yet placed an order!!! I LOVE that stamp set!!!! And, of course, your creation with it...lol.
I agree with your posting about poeple who hide behind their keyboard. I read a comment on someones blog from "anonymous" (of course) ripping the blogger about the tribute post she had for Michael Jackson. I was so mad at the poster. When it is your blog, you may do as you wish with it and if people do not like it so be it, but if they have something negative to say, they have 2 choices, either say it nicely and own up to it or do as my my Mom says to me...if you have nothing nice to say...say nothing.

Wow! If someone says your work is ugly then they are crazy! I wish I had half your talent! I'm glad you let it roll off your back. Being vindictive is never good. Although.... Just kidding! Have a wonderful day and know that I can't wait to see the next thing you post! (for what that's worth)

Ok....Why can't I use different combinations of papers/patterns/colors and like it? Yet, you can do it and make me go "hmmmmm.......I would have never thought that that look could work?"
Being behind the times (as usual....drat that work thing) I had to go and take a peek at THE card. Nothing against this card (again, it is just in a style that is soooo not in my pea brain to create) but I REALLY liked THAT card (yes, I'm thinking how I can tweak it to fit my lower level of stamping skills)
(and yes, I hear Thumper's little voice (with big bunny eyes and hands behind his back) reciting what every small child should be taught!!!)

Dear Jan, Your art is some of the most beautiful work that I have come across on the net, including your lastest. People who critize are jealous people.

Love that card. I just decided today that I HAVE to have that stamp set. Now, to find the $$$$!!!

Jan, you have one of the MOST FUN blogs out here in blog land and I LOVE your work! You keep doing what you do, because so many people enjoy what you create and say! BTW your card is BEAUTIFUL!!! :)

I love this card and would never have thought of using those colors together!! Only someone with great talent could come up with this color combination! I've looked over some of your other work and think you are so talented!! Keep up the good work and don't let what someone else says change how you craft!! Your work is spectacular!!

Your AWEsomeness is FANTASTIC! I was just looking at this DSP yesterday on the SU website. Your card design with matching colors is PERFECT! Love it, love it, love it! and TOTALLY love your blog! YOU rock Jan, truly!!!

You know,Jan...both this card and the one on the previous post are just lovely! The funny thing about the one poster that didn't like your card less time is that she doesn't even have a link so we can see how much better she is than the rest of us. Silly girl! Some peoples kids, huh?

I'm a negative Nancy and am hyper-critical of my work. So the fact that you love what you do, think it's GOJUS, and aren't afraid to say so, makes me smile. Oh, that I could be more like Jan Tink...
Keep up the good work! I stop by daily just to read your crazy posts (love your warped sense of humor!). The beautiful cards are a nice bonus, too!

First, let me know who said your stuff was uglay....and I'll take a trip to punch them in the nose and kick them in the shin...I need the exercise!
Second...I love that stamp set and can't wait to place my next order!!

Hey, I'll stay up late, late, late just to read your latest post, woman! You inspire me and I love your work. Don't always understand it, but then you might not understand mine, either. But we should always respect one another's work and feelings. Sometimes I look at your stuff and think "why didn't I think of that?" Of course, it's because I'm not an artist, that's why! Your work is, indeed, GOJUS. And I have always chuckled when I read your writing (i.e., Tearing Edge....whatever happened to that, anyway?). Hang in there. And never quit creating cool stuff for us to drool over.
