First, I need to thank all of you who sent chocolate in my hour of need. I got quite a LOT, actually, with GOJUS cards that I will have to detail more on another day.
My upline's meeting was Saturday and we did a shoe box swap. Here's the card I created for that:
Ingredients: (all SU!) Stamps - Big Birthday Candle, Many Merry Messages; Paper - Baja Breeze, Real Red, Whisper White, Ski Slope DSP; Ink - Basic Black, Real Red, So Saffron; Other - Scallop Square punch, Photo Corner punch, gold brads, Olid Olive 1/4" grosgrain, sponge wedge, Basic Black marker
Isn't this GOJUS?!?!?! (YILM!) I love this set, which was mistakenly put on the retirement list, for its ability to use up all those bits of paper I can't seem to throw away. And it's not only good for birthdays, but as you can see, any occasion calling for candles. In pretty blue and white papers it would work beautifully for Hannukah!
I was so please with myself for this, that I used the same layout idea, changed the papers, the colors and VOILA!!!
Ingredients: (all SU!) Stamps - Big Birthday Candle; Paper - Bashful Blue, Real Red, Whisper White, Summer Picnic DSP; Ink - Basic Black, Real Red, Summer Sun; Other - Scallop Square punch, Photo Corner punch, gold brads, Olid Olive 1/4" grosgrain, sponge wedge, Basic Black marker, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds glitter
One interesting feature of both these cards is this:
Why Jan, HOW did you do that?!?!? That is what I am about to show you, my gift to you, the result of my extreme cleverness (YILM!):
The Scallop Photo Corner Tutorial!!!!!
First here is what you need:
- Scallop Square Punch
- Photo Corner Punch
- Temporary adhesive (such as Dotto)
- Two different patterns of Designer Paper (NOT cardstock...it's too heavy!)
- A piece of typing paper
- Adhesive of choice
Punch out the piece of DP that is going to be your scalloped piece.
Put the temporary adhesive on the back of the scalloped square and stick it to the typing paper.
Turn over the photo corner punch, slide in the typing paper and scalloped square and line up the top and right sides of the scallop square with the top and right side of the larger photo corner.
Punch out photo corner.
Peel the photo corner off the typing paper, discard typing paper.
Punch out smaller photo corner from the other piece of Designer Paper.
Put adhesive on the back of the smaller photo corner.
Adhere to the scalloped photo corner, lining up diagonal sides of corners.
Tada!!!
(thank you...thank you very much!!!)
Now, wasn't that worth waiting for?!?! Hurrah!
Well, Christmas is winding its way down here. The presents were opened, and if there were a few less than in previous years, there didn't seem to be any lessening of satisfaction. The biggest problem was when I installed the Spore game Emily got for Christmas a) I found I didn't need to have bought the Spore Creature Creator, since it is part of the full Spore game and since I bought it on Ebay, I can't really return it, so Emily will be gifting it to a friend and b) My graphics card just isn't good enough for this game and it refused to run at all. So, yours truly is getting a video card for her PC for Christmas. Yay. I'm thrilled.
Can you hear the excitement in my voice? Sigh...me neither. Luckily it was not expensive, but then, I'm sure I'll hear how inferior the game playing experience with my relatively inexpensive card is to other, more expensive cards. "Tough!" will be my reply.
Well, for some stupid reason, Christmas dinner refuses to make itself. Despite the fact that I could cheerfully crawl into bed, having gotten up at 5:50 AM because Dan was snoring and then, being rapidly followed by children, was not allowed to doze off in the chair, I will have to go out to the kitchen and attempt to get on with it. Y'all have a Merry Christmas!!!

You are brilliant! I don't know why you even talk to little old me, but I'm glad you do! Love the scalloped photo corner! I will definitely be using *that*! Merry Christmas!

Jan, your cards are brilliant. I've been a lurker on your blog for a long time now...it's high time I comment. Your stories are always amusing and your creativity seems to be endless. The scallop photo corner tutorial is brilliant! I'm totally going to case some of your birthday card ideas too, cause it's birthday season in my family.
Thanks so much!
