Two from the vault!

Howdy, everybody!Smiley from millan.net (yes, Ike brought me a new Texas accent along with a bunch of rain, but more of that later!)

Got my swaps back from Jami Sibley's New Catalog swap and now I am free to reveal the two cards I made for it!

Smiley from millan.net

Ready for some pure GOJUS-ness?!?!? (YILM...but you knew that!) Here goes!

Houseofhaunts081808

Ingredients: (all SU!) Stamps - House of Haunts, Sanded; Paper - Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black, Perfect Plum, Whisper White; Ink - Basic Black Craft, Whisper White Craft, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Perfect Plum, Basic Black; Other - Clips Assortment, Tangerine Tango Striped Grosgrain, Black EP, Aquapainter, Stampin' Write Markers More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, dimensionals, sponge wedge

Well? Well?!?!?! Isn't it just STUNNING?!?!?!(YILM!) I made this LAST MONTH and it's been KILLING ME not to be able to show y'all!

I embossed the house and the greeting with black EP, then painted the moon, windows and the gravestones using my aquapainter and Whisper White craft ink. Then, I painted over the windows with a combo of ink pads and markers, the gravestones were touched with a little Kiwi Kiss ink and I added a bit of Tangerine Tango shading around the edge of the moon.

This particular round (#2) focused on the new hardware, so I used the paperclips from the new Clips assortment to attach the small pumpkin image to the main image.

Round #1 was for the new punches. I chose to use the new Scallop Square. Lookie:

Sayitwithscallops090408

Ingredients: (all SU!) Stamps - Say it with Scallops, Canvas; Paper - Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White, Bella Rosa DP; Ink - Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip; Other - Bigz Top Note die, Scallop Square punch, Scalloped Edge punch, Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain ribbon, paper piercing tool, sponge wedge, silver brad, Fire circle rhinestone brad, dimensionals.

I know, I know...it's GOJUS!!!! (YILM!) And because the Bella Rosa Designer Paper is GOJUS all on it's own, this particular card was easy peasie lemon squeezie!!

Now for personal news: I didn't get the job. Smiley from millan.net Poot. Oh well...back to the job hunt! In the meantime, I'm enjoying the sounds of big fans running this morning: Ike paid us a visit after he got done in Texas and dumped record rainfalls on our area. As a result, as I said yesterday, our roof sprung a leak, right over William's bedroom. I got ServPro in here last night and they determined that the carpet was not salvageable, but the plaster was. They went up in the attic, stripped out the wet insulation, treated the area so it wouldn't grow anything, then tore out the carpeting in William's room, treated the hardwood so IT wouldn't grow anything and peeled a lot of paint off the ceiling so that the plaster would dry out. Then they put three huge fans/dehumidifiers in William's room and left.

We will also have to have the plaster repaired, but he said it would not have to be torn out and done over. That's a blessing. And the hardwood in William's room is quite nice, so if we choose, we can spend the money to replace the carpeting on a good area rug and leave it. The girls are now quite jealous...they want hardwood too! And they will probably get their carpeting torn out one of these days; we had planned to remove the carpeting in the living room, hall way and our bedroom as well. All it needs is a good refinishing, but that will have to wait until I get a job and have paid off a few bills.

Luckily our insurance will cover all but the deductible, which is not that high, thank goodness! But William can't sleep in his room until it is dry (those fans are LOUD!) so he ended up sleeping on the living room floor last night. The ServPro guys told us it may take 3 to 5 days to totally dry out the floor and ceiling, so he may be camping out for a while! Just remembering that when he was little, the girls would let him sleep in their room, but the look on their faces when I suggested it last night!  Smiley from millan.net Priceless! LOL!

Well, everyone, I'm off to play (FINALLY!) with my new Holiday mini stuff, start printing off some resumes and submit them for a few positions I found online, and to nag ...er.. call the company that did our roof to tell them the roofers did NOT call last night as they were supposed to. We need to have that leak fixed ASAP or all the work the ServPro people did will be for nothing. Ta!

Thank goodness that`s all that leaked. I wish you the best of luck in the job search. I`m sure that the perfect job will land on your perfect shoulders. How about doing what you are really great at....writing. You have a knack for this and maybe you should check out that as an option. Thinking of you
Heather

Wonderful Halloween card - LOVE IT - sorry about the job - but as a data processing consultant - I speak from personal experience, it was not the job for you and something better will come along. I have faith that someone as talented and articulate as yourself will find the right fit.

I am glad you all survived the hurricane and are safe! Too bad about the carpet but hopefully all will be well! Take care!

So sorry about the leak and the job! I know that the right job will come along...maybe in writing?

Your work is gorgeous as always....YILYW!

They ARE gojus! I'll be CASEing the Halloween card for sure.

My kids think it is a real treat to sleep on the couch. I hope William enjoys his new sleeping adventure.

Best wishes on the job hunt. I'll be looking for one soon as well.

Bummer about the job, Jan! Better luck on the next try! I love your cards, and I am particularly taken with that Halloween stamp set, so it definitely caught my eye!! I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you on both the house and for the right job to come along!

Hi Jan,
Sorry to hear of your troubles following on from dreaded 'Ike'!

I love both cards, but the second is my favourite. The way you've let that gorgeous rose paper speak for itself, and i'm quite fond of red! :)

Hugs
Carol x

Your cards are simply wonderful! I just so much love the Bella Rose papers. I'm about on my second pack.

Sorry you didn't have any job luck. Glad that Ike didn't do too much damage and hope your son is able to get back in his own room soon.

Your cards are gorgeous as always. I love the second card best.
I am sorry to hear about the leak and job thing... I do agree with what Heather and Jen posted - try getting a writing job! I think you are very talented in that area too plus don't you get to work in your own home? :) Hang in there!

Oh Jan, sorry about the job. I got a "thanks, but no thanks" letter the other day. It's sure not as easy as it used to be! I guess the right job just hasn't come along for us yet. That's all.
I love these cards. Perfect!

I would definitely enter swap more often if I was garanteed I could get cards like yours in return for mine! :D So lovely.

Very sorry your didn't get the job and that Ike trick or treated early this year. :( Good luck with your job research!

Cindy
